Why Do We Hate Thought Daughters?

Thought daughters have been beaten down by society for generations. The overly sensitive girls, the ones who felt deep compassion for those around them, somehow always became the punchline. Being emotional as a woman comes with countless unwanted layers.GOD FORBID WOMEN FEEL!!!!

Women’s emotional expressiveness has long been seen as a threat by men. From the 16th century to today, women have been punished simply for feeling. Take every thought daughter’s first special interest: the witch trials. Any woman who was emotional, outspoken, or independent was accused of witchcraft and killed. Fast forward to the 19th century, where women like us were diagnosed with hysteria and subjected to cruel treatments—bed rest, electric shock therapy, even hysterectomies—just for existing as themselves. In the early 20th century, women fighting for basic rights were dismissed as overly emotional and unstable. Even today, women are kept from positions of power for the same reason. It’s clear that men have never understood our empathy—or maybe they do, and that’s exactly what terrifies them. They know that once a thought daughter has the power to make real change, their control begins to slip into the shadows.

But in true thought daughter fashion, I wonder—how different would the world be if thought daughters across time had found each other? For the first time in history, we can. Social media has allowed us to build a community, to connect in ways we never could before. The moment I realized I wasn’t the only one who made sure my stuffed animals got equal attention so they wouldn’t feel jealous, the moment I saw myself reflected in my mother, something in me glowed. My emotions no longer felt like a weakness—they became a source of power, linking me to so many beautiful souls.

I am proud to be a thought daughter, and I can’t wait to see the next generation rise.
